I agree…this is too funny!! I have dated several chefs…and not on purpose, lol. I just seem to be drawn like a magnet to these extreme people! LOL…glad to know someone knows how I feel! But I agree with you, definite romantic relationship deal breaker for me, too! As someone who gets to talk to a lot of chefs, i can understand the attraction. Guys who know how to cook are hot! Are executive chef known for cheating, know for prowling the internet for casual relationships, are they capable of true relationships and how do you know how he sees you as a partner or otherwise.

Oh Karen, you missed the point of the article which was meant to be a lighthearted observation from a personal viewpoint might I add not an in-depth thinkpiece delineating and highlighting the gross discrimination and exclusion of women in the culinary world. While I appreciate your comment, this article was written from the viewpoint of a heterosexual woman who, yes, dates men so naturally I am referring to male chefs.

It makes me feel like food is more important than anything I have to offer. Oh, Kristen—I completely understand. The weather was beautiful and we did nothing to take advantage of it. You’re Dating a Chef? Please Read This!

It has definitely been a huge mental adjustment on many aspects. I never realized how independent you need to be and how much dedication it takes to be a Chef day in and day out. This has just made me feel times less on my own. I am pretty much writing the same as the above comment. Almost all other blogs about chef-relationships are women who are married or have been for years.

My chef and I have only been together 9 months. And already I feel happy, sad, isolated, lonely, depressed, loved, forgotten-about, cherished and stress to name a few emotions.

There’s one reason she’s still in it, but is it reason enough?

I have learned that love is not all sunshine-and-rainbows. Now I have come to realise that love is a verb thanks John Mayer. Love is actions and words and things and feelings. Its a whole bunch of everything and occasionally, its really hard. Thank you again for writing this. I may just start my own blog — at least find a place to put my thoughts.
